Police mentioned they were alerted by a man who discovered a vehicle in Hanau marked with reddish fluid

Roughly fifty cars have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.

Vehicles, walls and postal boxes were marked, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they reported in a official communication.

Officers state they were notified during the night on Wednesday, when a individual noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued fluid.

The liquid had been drawn in the form of a banned symbol, they added.

Police then found multiple other smeared vehicles and house walls in the surrounding area.

Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under laws outlawing the public display of Nazi-era symbols.

Law enforcement state preliminary tests suggest the fluid was probably blood from a person.

"Currently there is no clue as to its source; officials are not yet aware of any injuries in connection with the incident," they commented.

Municipal representatives said they were attempting "to resolve the incident" and have requested to the community for information.

A high-ranking official commented the vandalism made him without words and required to be solved rapidly.

"This incident hits the very heart of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the right-wing violent incident five years ago," he posted on social media, referring to the death of nine victims by a assailant targeting people of migrant background in 2020.
